198: Inside Our Creative Spring: From Magazines to Memberships
May 06, 2025
After a little spring break, I’m back with a behind-the-scenes update on what’s been unfolding in our business and creative world. This season has been one of the most energizing yet, full of new ideas, bold moves, and heart-filled work. In this episode, I’m sharing what we’ve been working on, what’s coming next, and what you can look forward to on the podcast.
It all started with a leadership retreat in January that sparked a fresh season of building, creating, and expanding. Since then, we’ve been deep in development mode, launching several projects that have been on my heart for years.
Here’s what I cover:
Pattern Magazine
A long-held dream is now a reality. Pattern Magazine is our new quarterly print publication for surface pattern designers and creative entrepreneurs. It’s packed with inspiring features, creative insight, and tangible strategies. The first issue ships in early June and takes readers on a journey from inspiration to implementation with tear-out mood board pages to boot.
Pattern Plus Membership
This is a new membership experience designed for busy creatives who are ready to take action. Pattern Plus offers a monthly bundle that includes high-quality mockups, social content planning tools, business templates, curated AI prompts, and professional licensing briefs. It opens to the public on May 27 and is focused on saving time, building momentum, and offering real licensing opportunities each month.
Shop Flowerie
Our product shop reopens on June 17 with new seasonal collections and a permanent place to find thoughtfully crafted goods. This opening also marks the beginning of our wholesale offerings. It’s a beautiful milestone, and one we’re excited to grow.
Licensing Expo
From May 20 to 22, we’ll be exhibiting at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. This major event has been a driving force behind a refreshed portfolio and new collection. It’s a chance for us to connect with brands, build partnerships, and open doors for future collaborations, including opportunities for Pattern Plus members.
Team Strategy Retreat
Our full team gathered in Atlanta for a few days of connection and deep strategy. From painting journals and rooftop dinners to nine-to-five planning sessions, we reviewed everything through one lens: how can we better support student success and meaningful impact? We left feeling aligned, energized, and ready to serve.
Plus, I give a preview of what’s coming up on the podcast, including a conversation with my mentor, Stu McLaren, episodes about survey strategy, our newsletter structure, and how we celebrate team workiversaries. I’m so happy to be back and sharing what we’ve been creating for you.
We ask ourselves: is this meaningful? Is it helping people live the life they want to live?

Review of the week:
RESERVING OUR BEST YES'S
Bonnie, I am so inspired by your authenticity to share about how saying no to a conference idea had you in tears. Yet you did so in order to reserve your best yes and to model this for your students! I needed this reminder to get clear, stay focused, and pour energy into what is most important! Thank you for the wisdom that you share on this platform!
